This book of Eastlake's was very instrumental in influencing the rise of the Eastlake style in America. The ideas expressed by Eastlake directly led to the amazing reception of foreign goods displayed at the Philadelphia Centennial Exposition. Eastlake's design seemed to be more suitable to the domestic life of the American home as opposed to the previous Gothic style. Vg cond.
