Dana B. Chase - Santa Fe Photographer - Indian Man
Photo attributed to Dana B. Chase of an Indian man. Chase was a photographer in Santa Fe from 1884 when he purchased the Santa Fe plaza studio of William Henry Brown until 1892 when he sold the studio to Thomas J. Curran. It is a boudoir albumen cabinet card on a cream blind stamped mount. The back has historical notes concerning the city of Santa Fe plus an ad for The Scenic Line of the World - The Denver and Rio Grande R.R. and an ad for the Santa Fe Southern Railway which would take the tourist to the Indian Pueblos of Santa Clara, San ildefonso, San Jaun and the Anciet Cliff Dwellings. The Indian man is wearing a bowler hat, silk kerchief and an U.S. Cavalry jacket. Very small minor light stain to very top of photo and card margin, overall a striking image in vg cond.
