David F. Barry Photography Negative Collection
A three portfolio collection of 45 select negatives from the Denver Public Library David F. Barry collection of 1,000 negatives. These 45 photos were printed in a limited edition of 150 complete portfolios plus 9 photographer - artist proofs. The image is dry mounted on Reising 100% linen-rag four ply museum board. The reverse side is marked with Barry's original logo, signed twice and numbered by Paul Harbaugh who was printer of negatives and edition producer and Jennifer Tom, photo curator, Western History Department, Denver Public Library. The three portfolios are presented in an archival linen covered 16" x 20" handcrafted basswood portfolio case. Each portfolio of 15 images has a historical essay describing each of the images. 1982. LaBarr Printing and Pub. New. Portfolio 1 contains photos of the Chiefs Of The Sioux Wars and The Battle of Little Bighorn. It includes Rain-In-The-Face, Gall, Low Dog, Sitting Bull, Crow King, Red Horse, Long Dog, Running Antelope, John Grass, American Horse, Red Cloud, Young-Man-Afraid-Of-His-Horses, Rain-In-The-Face, Sitting Bull and Burial Tree. Portfolio 2 is titled CUSTER, PROMINENT MILITARY STRUCTURES, AND THE MEN WHO FOUGHT THE SIOUX WARS. It includes Custer Clan and Fellow Officers, Capt. Thomas Custer, Lt. James Calhoun, Capt. Frederick Benteen, Lt. Edward Godfrey, Capt. Thomas McDougall, Charley Reynolds, Curley, General Nelson Miles, Monument - Custer Battlefield, Fort Yates, Reno Hill, Custer Battlefield, Survivors and Fort Assinniboine. Portfolio 3 is PLAINS WARRIORS, CHIEFS, SCOUTS AND FRONTIER PERSONALITIES. It includes Sitting Bull, Grass Dancers, Arikara Scout, War Eagle, Chief Joseph, Gall, Wild Horse, Indian Police, Charging Hawk, Arikara Medicine Man, Goose, Long Soldier, Sitting Bull and Buffalo Bill, Annie Oakley and Sitting Bull's family.
