Quaker Memorial of James Pemberton of Philadelphia
A four page Memorial of James Pemberton, who died in Philadelphia at the age of eighty six in 1809. The memorial outlines his religious life; pointing out his work on the abolition of the slave trade and the relief of the black people. The entire document appears to be a period manuscript copy of his memorial which appeared in Guernsey's Piety Promoted Brief Memorial and Dying Expressions of some of the Society of Friends which was published in London in 1810. At the end of the Memorial is the beginning of an incomplete work "Some? of Jonathna Raine Lancashire. Very legible and in vg cond.
