Scientific American - New York, October 19, 1878
This particular issue of Scientific American has now become famous for its series of photos which are captioned "THE SCIENCE OF THE HORSE'S MOTION" drawn by Mr. Muybridge and which visually teach us how a horse truly trots and gallops. Previous to these photographs it was thought that horses galloped much differently, hence the unusual paintings of horses in gallop prior to this time. There is a related article discussing the new findings titled "A Horse's Motion Scientifically Determined", found on page 3. A truly significant issue which changed forever the way we view horses in motion. 16 pgs., minor smudges to the front page, overall a very good copy of a scarce issue.
