The Army Of The United States. Historical Sketches Of Staff And Line With Portraits Of Generals-In-Chief
Rodenbough, Theodore F. and William L. Haskin (ed.)
Maynard, Merrill and Co. 1896. 1st. 741 pgs. Frontis, ports., Intro by Major General Nelson A. Miles. A scarce book pertaining to a detailed history of the cavalry, artillery and infantry regiments through 1896. Specifically the first through the fifth regiment of artillery and the first through the twenty-fifth regiment of infantry are detailed. Other units such as the 8th and 9th Cavalry are also documented in a very detailed account. Discusses Custer and the 7th Cavalry. In our expereince this book is much more difficult to obtain that Rodenbough's FROM EVERGLADE TO CANON. Rebound in 3/4 leather, leather tips, raised bands and gold stamping spine, new endpapers. Embosed on the title page with the words"Library Army War College" and "Library General Staff College' plus two minor library withdraw stamps. Overall a very good copy of a rare book.
